Great ideas on how to share your love for Mother Nature with your little ones, with activities they are sure to love. #ToddlerApproved

April 22, also known as Earth Day, is the perfect time to talk with your children about Mother Nature and protecting our Earth! Children can spend lots of outdoor time learning, playing, and exploring the world around them.

Earth Day is April 22.

Below are some great ideas for celebrating Earth Day with your child(ren).

Ideas to Celebrate Earth Day:

1. Start a garden: This is a very fun activity to do with children. They can take pride in knowing they are helping the Earth by planting more green-life and growing their favorite things. For Earth Day, we decided to grow cilantro, parsley, basil, and chives... we will post pics when they grow!

2. Go on a nature walk: This is a great way to start off the Spring season in a healthy manner. Parents can create a list of items to find throughout the neighborhood and children will enjoy searching for those items. Max loves to walk around our home and search for lights and mallards.

3. Plan a recycle and donation day for your family: Recycling is a great way to teach children about the importance of protecting the Earth. Donating your gently used items to various organizations will show your children their old items will get a new life with someone else. We gathered up Maxy's old clothes to donate to a local foster care agency.

4. Learn about the Spring: This option allows many varieties; you can read books about the Earth, print coloring pages to learn about the life cycle of plants, and much more. We did both of these things are Max loved it. (Books read: Miss Maple's Seeds, The First Strawberries and Oliver's Tree).

5. Do community service, as a family: Visit a local park and pick up litter or get involved with a local organization that is committed to positive efforts in your community. This is a great way to show your child(ren) to be role models for others and help protect the Earth.

Hello and Happy Spring!

I just recently started my #WWjourney and I am loving it. Initially, I was a bit worried that it would be too confusing because I would have to make separate meals for everyone in the family, or not have time to keep track, or not have motivation to actually follow it.

But, none of that has been true. It has been super easy. And quite delicious.

I wanted to share a couple of #recipes that I know you all will love.

Roasted Veggies:

  • Take whatever veggies you have on hand

  • I used corn, potatoes, onions, peppers, and tomatoes

  • Season them with your favorite roasted veggie pack

  • Bake for 30 mins on 400

  • Enjoy (:

Southwest Salad:

  • Take your favorite greens, I used classic salad mix b/c the fam does not love spinach

  • Add black beans and corn. We seasoned ours with taco seasoning, but you do not have to.

  • You can also add grilled or baked chicken, that is also seasoned with taco seasoning.

  • Top with southwest ranch or chipotle ranch, tortilla strips, and pico de gallo

Open Face Burger:

  • Use your favorite lean patty. I used a lean beef patty and topped it with light mozzarella cheese.

  • I also added onions and corn, with mustard on the side.

  • You could definitely include a lot more veggies on this one, however, I wanted to save my veggies for roasting.

  • I used half of a hamburger bun, however, you could use sturdy veggies instead.

I will continue to update you guys on my progress and how it goes. Until then, Xoxo!
